Most apps quiz you once and call it learned.
WordsBee waits three days. Then three weeks. Then eight months. And it remembers exactly which words tripped you up.
300 SAT words free with an account. No card needed.
A flashcard app
Two weeks later the word is gone, and nothing ever asks you about it again.
The WordsBee Memory Engine
Falter at any point and the word returns to learning, then comes back on its own schedule.
The points ladder
How a word earns 100 points
Every word climbs the same four rungs. The waiting is not a delay — it is the part that makes the word stay.
A wrong answer sends the word back to learning and resets the clock, never the score. Points only ever go up. The only cost is time.
Read it +10
Ten points for the first honest read — definition, examples, as long as you need.
Two correct in a row +30
Consecutive, not cumulative. A lucky guess between two misses does not count.
Correct again +30
Long enough to start forgetting. That is exactly the point.
Correct again Elite
One hundred points, and the word has survived a month of real life.
Then the long game
Three statuses, and you cannot cram for any of them
Elite
Earned as soon as a word reaches 100 points, or when you finish a collection.
Master
Pass the retention quiz eight months after Elite. No study reminders in between — either it stayed or it did not.
Legend
Pass the final retention quiz sixteen months after Elite. The last word on whether you really know it.
Sixteen months runs roughly from a sophomore autumn to a junior spring. Words earned early are still there on test day.
